As currently the GovHack site is down, we cannot edit our project description. We have to put it here:

Project: 5D city Explorer.
Project Description: Creative geolocated data visualisation / exploration of data (such as land use, energy and water consuption) interpreted as imaginary city. [parallel Geelong]
The first 3 dimensions are : XYZ coordinates
The 4th dimension is time. Our game interface allows user (city explorer) to to the past as well as to look into the [projected] future.
The 5th dimension is the layer of information (data)

Data used:
1) Energy Usage data [Geelong]
2) Water Consuption data [Geelong]

3) Land use data: Housing development / Vacant land / Cadaster regions

Team IDeEA Lab

Hello Gov Hackers,

Greetings from Team IDeEA Lab -

Dr. Anastasia Globa & Dr. Rui Wang

We are research fellows working at the IDeEA Lab, Faculty of Architecture and Built Environment, Deakin University Waterfront Campus.

The IDeEA lab provides an interdisciplinary environment to conceive research projects that
exploit digital technologies emerging within the wider fields of architecture and engineering.
The intent of the lab is to provide desk top research resources that compliment the high end
VR and prototyping equipment at the School of Engineering.

Our research interests include interdisciplinary design research, with fast iteration
between real-time 3D models, physical prototyping, wide field-of-view projection, 16 channel
audio, and HMD VR. The objectives are to provide multiple proof-of-concept and pilot
studies that can underpin larger research projects.

We are are super excited to be part of this year's GovHack to explore the qualitative dimensions of human cognition of data representations across a range of technology. We aim to identify what each representation 'affords', in terms of human insight into big data pattern recognition and anomaly detection. From this core concept, we anticipate being able to contribute to significant data analysis problems in a range of applied contexts.

Cheers,
Anastasia & Rui
